Group Fitness Classes

Class levels:

Level 1=Easy going-Instructor will show optional moves-intensity as desired
Level 2=Coordination required; however repetition helps you to learn the movements quickly-intensity as desired
Level 3=Advanced class. Coordination is required

Low-impact classes - Muscle Conditioning & Cardiovascular Classes

Pilates On the Mat - An Introduction -This is an introduction to mat pilates. The program is based on Joseph Pilates' original exercises that focus on core stabilization, abdominal and lower back strength and flexibility. Regardless of your fitness condition or age, pilates will enhance your fitness routine and the quality of your movement in daily living. You will feel energized, toned, and focused. New participants should begin with the Introduction program.  Only registered participants can participate due to the progressive nature of the classes.
Cost for Atii Members is $49.00 for 8 Classes (Level 1) Class size=18

Pilates - Mat work that strengthens core abdominal and back muscles while balancing overall strength and flexibility.   This class will focus more on intermediate and advanced moves (Level 2 - 3) Class size=25

Step 1-This class is designed for the new stepper to introduce step choreography in order to help the participant understand the terminology and associated step moves. (Level 1) Class size=23

Ab Blast - This 30 minute class will follow chosen cardio classes, focusing on the abs and back proportionately. Learn how to target the abdominal muscles correctly to achieve full benefit of your efforts. It’s short, to the point, it’s a BLAST! (Level 1) Class size=25

Moderate to Higher Impact Classes - Muscle Conditioning & Cardiovascular Classes

Double Step-Add a variety to your step classes by using two steps instead of just 1! It is a total body conditioning group exercise class that will give the serious stepper an intense cardiovascular workout.  (Level 3) Class size=15

Step 2 - This program is designed for the intermediate to advanced participant who is familiar with step combinations. It is a total body conditioning group exercise class that will give the serious stepper an intense cardiovascular workout. (Level 2) Class size=23

Bosu & Sculpt - Multi discipline class using the Bosu. This class will be an introduction to the bosu using weight bars & weight balls for 15-20 minute intervals creating a multidimensional cardiovascular and sculpting workout. (Level 2) Class size=20

Sport Skills & Drills
- This class will include interval training throughout the class while using a variety of equipment to help condition your body.  Part of the class will include exercises set up in stations so that participants can work out on their own at their own pace, or team up in partners to train competitively.  This workout will challenge your aerobic and anaerobic energetics, speed, quickness, agility, and muscle reactivity.  The equipment being used may include: Body Bars, Bands, Medicine Balls, Bosus, Stability Balls, Gliders and Steps. (Level 2) Class size=16

Jump Roap & Muscular Conditioning - 2 to 3 minute non-stop skip action mixed with intervals of lower and upper body sculpting and core conditioning training. Bars, Bands and Bosu may be used during the sculpting components. (Level 2) Class size=15

Sport Skills & Drills - This workout challenges your aerobic and anaerobic energetics, speed, quickness, agility, muscle reactivity and full body explosive power. This program will include interval training throughout the class using a variety of equipment at times to help condition your body.  The equipment being used may include: Body Bars, Bands, Medicine Balls, Bosus, Stability Balls, Gliders and Steps. (Level 2)    Class size=16

Inuit Games - This class will focus on instruction of the proper technique of traditional Inuit games. All levels are welcome. Class size=10

Karate
Beginners:
Introduction to karate skills and the training system of a martial art.  Technical system makes everyone of equal experience equally capable and is designed to strengthen a person in all aspects.  Basic self defence techniques, physical training and application of power will be practised by participants under experienced and careful supervision.  Classes begin with 20 minutes of various warm ups followed by 30 minutes skill/technique practice and associated physical training.  Class is concluded with 10 minutes of stretching exercises in final preparation for the next class of instruction.

Advanced: Karateka will train alongside beginners during warm-ups and stretching and breaking into separate group for 30 minutes of kihon.  Immediately following Tuesday’s (Thursdays in brackets) beginner class advanced karateka will train with intensity for 20 (10) minutes of kata, 10 (5) minutes of bonkai and 20 (10) minutes of ippon kumite at the appropriate belt level. Advanced class will conclude with 10 (5) minutes of stretching.

Open Class : Self practise for beginner to advanced karateka.  Instruction will be available on request depending on instructor availability.

Note:
*There must be 2 or more participants to instruct a class.
**Class will be cancelled after 15 minutes of either not enough participants or no participants.
